During this session, the task was to come up with some products or services based on the customer profile we created. This was a challenging task for me because I had to tie in some of my research I did in the V&A Museum and Shoreditch. At first, I thought of creating a magazine but I realised that I wouldn’t be able to execute the idea in such a short amount of time. I finally decided to create a necklace and earrings. I had to brainstorm what my customer would wear and how I can incorporate V&A and Shoreditch into the jewellery. This process was challenging for me and I often found myself stuck and confused. Carlyn helped me figure out how I can use my collage for inspiration and take the shapes I made and see if it fits as jewellery pieces. She also suggested that I include a unique aspect within the necklace and earrings so that it isn’t a basic accessory.
Looking back, I realised how hard it was for me to think of how I can create something for a customer with a completely different aesthetic than mine. It was also challenging to mix the different ideas I had with the collages I previously created. It was useful for me to struggle during this session because as a result I learned a lot about myself and how I come up with ideas. I also learned a lot from Carlyn and received some helpful feedback from her that really helped me.
