During this session, I had to illustrate the jewellery idea I had come up with previously. I was feeling a bit unhappy with my concept because I felt that it wasn’t modern enough. In order to fix that I looked back at my shoreditch pictures for some inspiration. I came across some street art that I felt would fit well into the aesthetic I was going for. This then changed my original idea so I had to come up with some quick rough sketches to understand the layout and the shape of the necklace and earrings. I went for a red and black colour scheme with a few hints of pink to fit it into the grungy aesthetic. I think that using elements from shoreditch really elevated my idea and made it more youthful and cool.
I enjoy sketching and creating drawings so I really enjoyed this task. I started out by sketching an ear so I could sketch the earring in place. I loved how the rough sketch turned out but I thought the earrings looked too normal. I decided that it would be cool to make the earrings huge and very camp-like. I also made the charm on the necklace huge as well. For my final sketches I used water soluble pencils. When creating the earring sketch I made sure to make the earring bigger that my rough sketch. After finishing the final sketch of the earring, I was happy with the result. I only wish I made the ear a bit smaller. For the necklace, I sketched out the neck of a person as well as the collar bone and shoulders to help me to position the necklace. I also made sure not to make the sketch of the body part too big like I did with the ear in the other sketch.
