South Kensington outing reflection

On Wednesday September 29, we had a field trip to south Kensington. Some of my classmates and I went to the Victoria and Albert museum. We walked around and looked at the British art section first, there were a lot of portraits of historical figures as well as some cool furniture. We saw lavish beds and tables with an extraordinary amount of detail and many more. I made sure to take pictures of everything I liked so I could use it for my collage. What I liked looking at most was the statues made out of stone because they were incredible. I also enjoyed looking at Islamic art because I could read the Arabic calligraphy engraved. It was interesting to see how art has evolved and how modern art is so much more simple and minimal even though art before had lots of small details and a wide variety of colors.

After the museum we went to Harrods. All of the stores in harrods had amazing lighting and even mini spotlights that shined on the products. The layout of shops was pretty similar it was all very clean and had their products displayed in a way that didn’t make the store look crowded. However each shop had a different aesthetic that matched the brand and the products located in the shop. An example of that would be Miu Miu, the walls and floor were the same shade of pastel blue and all of the products were either in pastel colours, black or light brown. The lighting was bright, the layout of the store was simple which made it easy for me to take a look at the products on display. I could clearly see the shoes displayed, the puffer jackets on one rack and the tracksuits on the other. I made sure to take pictures to do my shop report.

The most challenging part of this field trip was asking people if I could take a photo of their outfits. I was really nervous and I didn’t want to embarrass myself if they said no. I built up the courage and asked a total of 5 people, they all said yes! I was so relieved and happy. This definitely helped me be more confident in myself.
